Brigadier R Sathya Narayanan
Brigadier R Sathya Narayanan is a professional with more than 34 years of service in armed forces and hold Five Master degrees including MPhil in Business Management & MA in Psychology. A practitioner of project management holds certifications from IIM Ahmedabad in Risk Management and Project Management and IPMA level C. Being part of faculty of Three armed Forces training Colleges including HoD Project Management in College of Defence Management, he has vast experience in Academic activities, Administration and Management.
The officer was instrumental in training of more than 600 Officers and 2000 personnel and 150 Foreign trainees. His array of experience spans across Operations, Security, Finance, Procurement, Logistics and Administration in varied terrain including Deserts, Counter Insurgency ops and Flood in North Eastern Part of India. As Chief Logistic officer, he planned and executed sustenance of supply chain including through aerial means for more than 8000 personnel during COVID 19 conditions in remote areas.
During his tenure with UN Mission in Ethopia & Eritrea (UNMEE) he is credited with co-ordination of more than 30 lifesaving CASEVAC missions. The officer was awarded Army Commander Commendation Card, CISC Commendation Card and UN Force Commander Commendation Card to recognise his service. With a vibrant and practical oriented culture on training of Rescuers, he imbibes dynamism in all endeavours of NDRF Academy.
Shri Masood Mohamad
A seasoned officer with a background of BSF, currently serving as Associate Professor and Commandant (Administration). As a former Chief Instructor at DM Institute of BSF, Gwalior, has the rare distinction of undergoing various advanced courses on Radiological emergencies. With more than three decades of experience and unblemished service in varied terrain of both Eastern and Western borders, he also holds great administrative and logistics management skills. A qualified RSO with in-depth knowledge in disaster mitigation and response Ops makes him a key trainer of the academy.
Shri Gurminder Singh
An experienced BSF officer on deputation and has great skills of combined operational leadership along with international exposure in disaster response. As USAR Operations Commander during “Ops Dost” in the Türkiye Earthquake 2023, he led critical life‑saving missions under demanding conditions. His command experience also spans major national emergencies, including Cyclone Yaas, the Sikkim GLOF, and West Bengal floods. He has represented India in capacity building and training programs in Indonesia and Slovakia, strengthening global partnerships in resilience and preparedness. He also Commanded a NDRF battalion which was adjudged as Best Professional Battalion & Best Sports Battalion a number of times.
Shri Pankaj Kumar
A seasoned CBRN and USAR disaster response specialist with over 24 years of service in ITBP and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), including more than 16 years in frontline disaster operations. He has led over 30 major response operations, including the Mayapuri radiation incident and deployment during the 2011 Japan Triple Disaster. As a recognized expert in CBRN and USAR, he has contributed to CWG2010 security, G-20 event security and organized major international exercises such as SAADMEx and BIMSTEC. He has authored a CBRN research paper presented at IIT Delhi (2021) and remained associated with the INSARAG Certification process. As Commandant (Training), NDRF Academy, Nagpur, he has driven training innovation and capacity building.
Shri Bhagwat Singh Rajput
A distinguished officer of the ITBP with over 22 years’ service has made significant contributions to disaster management and response operations in the Himachal Pradesh and Punjab floods in 2023. He has coordinated the Shimla temple rescue operation with decisive leadership and operational insight. He participated in GWG Meeting of South East Asia Summit 2025, where he contributed as a Radiological and Nuclear (RN) Subject Matter Expert. A postgraduate in Mathematics and a certified Radiological Safety Officer, he combines strong academic grounding with extensive field experience.
Shri Sachin Chauhan
A seasoned officer from CRPF on deputation to NDRF Academy, since August 2020. Being Training Officer of NDRF Academy, he designs and executes programs for NDRF, Civil Defence, SDRF, and international teams. He has specialization in CSSR, CBRN emergencies, and flood rescue. The officer excelled in Master Trainer (MT) certifications in MFR/CSSR & CBRN. He has undergone international training in Chemical Weapons Response in Dhaka, HNWP INSARAG, PEER CADRE and IDM courses. As a certified Master Trainer, he takes pride in strengthening disaster response ecosystems for national and global crises.
Shri Dileep Kumar
An experienced BSF officer with technical orientation and bomb disposal and armament support qualification. As part of training team since 2020 the officer has field experience of Indian Ocean Tsunami, Silkyara Tunnel rescue and assistance during SBL Blast near Nagpur. He has been awarded with DG’s Disc with Commendation Roll (NDRF), DGCR (BSF), and IG Commendation Cards. He harnesses his vast experience to enrich the training content of Academy.
Shri Pavan Dev Gaur
An experienced officer from CRPF involved in response during building collapses, landslides, cyclones and urban floods. Along with his active contribution in training, he also shares additional responsibility of ADM Officer of Academy. He had done specialised courses in the field of CBRN emergency. For the past three years, he is actively involved in imparting knowledge and skills in disaster responders including Civil Defence volunteers, SDRF, NDRF and other stakeholders of various organisations including armed forces. He was closely involved in training of participants from Bhutan and Nepal.
Shri Kamal Mehra
An ITBP officer with extensive experience field operations & peacekeeping missions in DR Congo has vastly contributed in disaster response training, CBRN emergency management and policy formation. He is a PEER qualified instructor and carries operational experience of Bhadranchalam Urban Flood Rescue operation and has also contributed as a CBRN Emergency Response Specialist during high-profile events such as the G-20 events. He has played a key role in developing SOPs & training material for first responders in CBRN emergencies. Being an avid instructor, he is continuously contributing training activities of NDRF Academy.
Shri Kamlesh Dhoundiyal
An accomplished Instructor at NDRF Academy with over six years of training experience. A certified CBRN operations expert trained at BARC, IIM Nagpur and NITSRDR, he specializes in Chemical Warfare Agents and Toxic Industrial Chemicals. His expertise stems from two-month OPCW module including Basic training with the Bureau of Fire Protection (Philippines) and BOMBA Fire and Rescue (Malaysia) in Metro Manila Philippines, plus Advanced training with the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) in Seoul in 2025. Mr Dhoundiyal has completed various Biological Emergency Response workshops, Radiological/Nuclear Training of Trainers programs with BARC scientists and holds Radiological Safety Officer certification. He was also awarded the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Commendation Roll for his pivotal role in the 2013 disaster response.
Shri Vimal Bounthiyal
An ITBP cadre and ToT qualified instructor from IIM NAGPUR and BIDR, BSF ACADEMY. He is also a prestigious PEER (Program of Enhancement in Emergency Response) course qualified instructor having expertise in the field of MFR, CSSR & CBRN. As SME of CBRN, he achieved position in the international course conducted by OPCW. He also has international exposure as Guest faculty in radiological emergency to the European delegation hosted by INTERPOL. He has also successfully led the NDRF team in Bhandara explosion cum CSSR operation in 2025, truly enabling in blending his instructional skills with ground operation.
Shri Sohel Lakhani
A BSF Officer joined NDRF in the year 2023 and after academy in May 2025. He has done his Basic, advanced & PEER India course. He has also undergone Underground Mine Disaster Rescue Training at Coal India. An avid swimmer he has taken part in various ops, field trials, special ops etc. and performed duties as Officer in Charge, Jharkhand for Response ops. Having a multi-skilled talent officer is contributing to the NDRF and Civil Defence training.
Shri Amit Kumar
A BSF officer has been on deputation to the NDRF Academy, Nagpur, since February 2020. He has completed both basic and advanced courses from recognized disaster management institutions, as well as MT course from CME Pune. He has served on the eastern border, participated in anti-Naxal operations and worked as an instructor at the Disaster Management institute of BSF, Gwalior. He also has experience successfully leading NDRF teams during the Kosi floods in 2008, as well as in landslide operations in Darjeeling and during Cyclone Aila (2009), particularly in the South 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal.
Dr. Subhash Kumar
Dr. Subhash Kumar (DC/VET) is a Veterinary Officer from the 2018 batch (TOBC-41). He is post-graduated in Animal Nutrition (Gold Medalist). He has served for nearly four years at the National Training Centre for Dogs (NTCD), BSF Academy, Tekanpur, where he gained practical experience in canine care and training. He is also qualified in Dog Handling and Management Course (DHMC). Currently on deputation with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), he is supervising dog training at the newly started Canine Training School at NDRF Academy, Nagpur.
Dr Aniket K Harne
A dedicated Medical Officer posted at the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Academy. He has completed his MBBS from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur and brings his expertise in emergency medicine and disaster response. At NDRF Academy, Dr. Harne delivers engaging lectures to trainees and officers on critical medical topics, including medical emergencies, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) scenarios, Incident Disaster Management (IDM) and response strategies across various hazards. He also provides essential medical support to troops and their families through the academy’s Outpatient Department (OPD), ensuring comprehensive care during training and operations. His contributions equip personnel with practical knowledge to handle high-stakes scenarios effectively.
